The Barako

The Barako beans, which taste best when roasted to perfection, be it dark or slightly brown.  Barako, also known as Philippine Liberica, is a rare and exotic coffee primarily grown in the Philippines, even in some low lands, and is known for its particularly strong taste, powerful body, and a distinctly pungent aroma.  The Barako variety has the largest cherries and therefore bigger beans.  The beans are indigenous to the Philippines, although the coffee variety may be found in some rare parts of Southeast Asia.  Philippine Barako’s famed flavor and taste have the makings of a great coffee like Hawaii’s Kona or Jamaica’s Blue Mountain.  Tanay Hills uses the best beans of what Tanay Hills can offer plus the famous beans coming from Batangas and Cavite.
